POLICE blocked off a Southampton road after a man 'scaled a building and hurled tiles from a roof'.
Officers swooped to Rockstone Place this evening.
Patrol cars and vans were blocking the road near its junction with The Avenue.
A man is said to have climbed onto a church building and thrown bricks and tiles.
Shattered masonry can be seen on the ground.
Resident Shahivdar Rahman, 18, said: "He got up onto a roof and was chucking bricks. He then ran across The Avenue."
Elizabeth Palmer added: "He was sat on the roof for the last couple of hours. He was just throwing things."
Elizabeth, whose car has been damaged during the incident added: "I was angry. Why do people think they have the right to destroy other people's possessions."
A man is said to have been arrested, but officers remain in the area and a police drone has been spotted circling above.
Rockstone Place has reopened and police are leaving the scene.
Earlier this evening Soton cops, posting on social media, said: "Police are dealing with an incident at St Edmunds Church, Rockstone Place.
"As a result, the road is currently closed.
"Please can we advise members of the public to stay away from this location. We will let you know when the road is back open."
