FIREFIGHTERS have rushed to battle a grass blaze which sent smoke billowing into the sky.
Crews from 5 stations descended on the fire on the field behind David Lloyd Southampton at around 5.30pm yesterday.
A spokesperson for the fire service said the blaze involved around 25m by 10m worth of grass.

A total of four pumps and a water carrier were needed to battle the flames.
Crews from Winchester, Springthorne, Fareham, Eastleigh and Portchester attended.
The stop message came in at 6.50pm.
The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.
