A MAN has been arrested after police discovered suspected drugs in a parked car. 

At around 6.45pm yesterday police saw a man in a black BMW parked on Bracken Road, North Baddesley. 

Officers said they saw a quantity of suspected class A drugs inside. 

But as they approached, the man got out and made off in the direction of Meadow Close. 

A search of the vehicle was carried out in which a quantity of suspected class A and B drugs were found.

Three mobile phones, an electronic tablet, items associated with drug activity and cash were also discovered. 

The man then returned to the car and was searched. 

During the search, two officers are said to have sustained minor injuries. 

A further search of the area identified a number of small bags of white powder close by. 

A 44-year-old man from London has now been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault with intent to resist arrest.

He remains in custody at this time.
