A POLICE car was involved in a crash with a Toyota Auris on a major Southampton route.

Officers were called to the junction with St Andrews Road and Kingsway in Southampton at 11.54am this morning following reports of a crash.

The collision involved a Hampshire Constabulary police car and a Toyota Auris.

The driver of the Auris suffered injuries to her shoulder and she was treated at the scene.

Delays built in the city due to the junction being partially blocked by the crash.

An investigation has been launched following the incident.

A spokesperson from the Force said: "We were informed of a road traffic collision at the junction with St Andrews Road and Kingsway in Southampton at 11.54am this morning (Wednesday 10 August).

"The collision involved a Hampshire Constabulary police car and a Toyota Auris.

"The driver of the Auris reported injuries to her shoulder and was treated at the scene.

"The incident is under investigation."
