AN EASTLEIGH dancer has celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends.

Mary Lucas turned 100 on July 12.

Tuesday Dance at St Denys Church Hall, organised by Betty King, threw her a birthday bash to remember just before the special day.

Food and cake were prepared by Amy Stratton, aged 97, and they enjoyed a birthday dance.

Mary has lived in Eastleigh for 73 years and was married to her husband Frank for 49 years.

They have a son named Trevor as well as a grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Mary has been dancing since she was 16 and is still an active dancer at the Tuesday Dance.

She mainly dances ballroom and sequence.

Frank passed away 28 years ago, but Mary has continued to dance.

Betty said: "Mary is a real inspiration to us all, it is just amazing how well she is in body and mind.

"Her party was really moving and Mary was so shocked at how much effort was put in.

"I felt very emotional when I took her home."

To celebrate her 100th birthday, Mary cruised on the Iona with her son and his partner Sue.
