A NEW four-storey flat block could replace a former tyre shop should plans be approved by civic chiefs.

Plans have been lodged seeking permission to tear down the Silverlake site on Onslow Road and replace it with a four-storey flat block containing 16 new homes.

The site is currently used as additional storage for the main Silverlake site in Botley.

It was used as a tyre shop until 2016.

The proposals were submitted by Nova Planning Limited and seek to redevelop the site by knocking down the current building and erecting a new one.

The plans include four ground-level flats, four flats on the first floor, three flats on the second, three on the third, and two penthouses on the fourth floor.

There will be six one-bed flats and ten two-bed flats.

There will be 16 cycle spaces and two visitor cycle spaces.

The site is on a corner plot between Onslow Road and Fanshawe Street.

The primary frontage is on Onslow Road with secondary frontage onto Fanshawe Street, with both vehicle and pedestrian access.

The plans claim the site is supported by existing services and facilities within walking distance and "excellent access" to public transport.

The plans say the proposed flats will not "any significant residential amenity harm".

No windows are proposed in the side elevation of the building facing the neighbouring property.

The plans state there will be four affordable rent flats and two shared-ownership flats.
