AS children return to the classroom, business is booming for a Hampshire hair styling brand.

Chandlers Ford based Trenza Braid Bar is helping local parents and schools to combat those pesky, and highly contagious little pests, head lice.

Rife in primary school aged children, particularly during the September return to school, head lice are dreaded by parents and loathed by schools.

Romsey mum of two Raz Wright launched her entire business out of the fear her daughter would catch head lice at school and the problems that she would be faced with when trying to rid her of these pests.

Raz launched her award-winning Braid Bar in Westquay Shopping Centre three years ago and this year expanded into a second Braid Bar in Chandlers Ford.

She is now launching braidschool.co.uk to teach braiding to more parents and even hairdressers as it's a great life skill and is becoming increasingly popular as a career.

She told the Daily Echo: “Braids are a brilliant way of preventing head lice. I launched my business after learning to braid to avoid head lice. When my daughter who has been blessed and cursed with a huge amount of hair started school, I invested in braid lessons as I was so fearful of head lice.I came across the Braid Bar concept at the same time and realised there was a gap in the market locally and a real need for parents who wanted help braiding their children’s hair.

Daily Echo:

"Braids are amazing at head lice prevention, my daughter has never had head lice since I started to braid her hair daily. Parents come to us for braids for gymnastics, dance, sport, residentials, holidays, camping trips, school photo day, and now parents are learning to braid with us too.

"September is our busiest month for Back to School Braids as parents book in for nice tight braids that last at least an entire week, they prevent head lice and school run stress.

"Since we launched we’ve had over 4000 parents use our services and braided in

excess of 10,000 heads. Daily parents tell me how they struggle to braid their children’s hair.

"We’ve had such huge success as we produce beautiful quality, long lasting braids we have clients visiting us from all over the country as we are known as one of the best braiding companies in the UK.

Raz and her team now teach parents, carers and even hair stylists how to braid. It's hugely popular with dads as well as mums.

The Trenza Braid School workshops teach parents to braid so they can braid their children’s hair at home for school to avoid catching head lice.

Braid lessons can be booked via the Trenza Braid Bar website at trenza.co.uk, their social pages @trenzabraidbar or via the booking app booksy.com
