A HAMPSHIRE charity is appealing for green fingers to dig deep and help sow the seeds of success that will help disabled youngsters blossom.

The Rainbow Centre is hosting a garden open day to plant 300 camomile plants in its special sensory garden to encourage wildlife into a camomile lawn.

The WILD garden allows children, who suffer from severe cerebral palsy, to watch wildlife in its natural habitat while learning about conservation.

Volunteers will need to bring hand forks and gardening gloves.

Meanwhile, tickets are on sale for the Simply Scented horticultural workshop in Fareham's Sensory Garden on Saturday, March 29.

The hands-on day run by the Fareham in Bloom volunteer team starts at 10.30am.

Leigh Hunt from RHS Wisley Gardens will be guiding the public through how to create a rainbow of scent and colours that stimulate the senses.

Colours of the rainbow are the theme of this event to mark 21 years of the Rainbows (Girl Guides aged 5-7) and a new shrub bed will be planted as part of the workshop and to mark the occasion.

Tickets cost £2.50 per person and with 40 places available pre booking is essential. Contact Fareham Tourist Information Centre, telephone 01329 221342.
