A HAMPSHIRE man who spent his life producing some of the nation's favourite television and radio shows has died. Peter Whitmore, 84, who lived in the New Forest, had a long career with the BBC and was part of the BAFTA award-winning team which produced Yes Minister.
After the war, Mr Whitemore joined the BBC drama department as programme engineer in the sound control room for Saturday Night Theatre. He produced children's favourite Crackerjack which attracted eight million viewers at its peak and worked on shows featuring Rolf Harris, Eamon Andrews and Dave Allan.
Mr Whitmore retired to the New Forest in 1984. He died while out walking, shortly after moving to Romsey to be nearer his daughter.
