CITY car retailer Alan Day Honda is offering a sensational deal as part of its drive to get more customers in a new 08-plate Honda Jazz.

Alan Honda's deal is called 50:50. It means new customers pay 50 per cent of the full list price now to secure a 08-reg Honda Jazz. After paying £5 per month for 11 months, they have the option to make the second 50 per cent payment. Or better still, they can upgrade to another new Honda Jazz.

It's even better for those customers part-exchanging a car, who could effectively drive away in a new car without putting their hand in their pocket at all!

Based on typical part-exchange values for their car, they can trade in their current vehicle and pick up a brand new Jazz from their showrooms in Portsmouth, Winchester or Southampton. They won't pay a penny for 11 months, then they'll have the option to make the final payment or upgrade to another new Jazz.

But the best news for both new and part-exchange customers is that upgrade will be to the all-new MkII Honda Jazz - set to be launched later this year.

Paul Lamar, sales director at Alan Day Honda, said: "This 50:50 deal is great news for our typical Jazz customers, who often pay for a large percentage of their new cars with cash.

"If they part-exchange their current car for a Jazz, they can leave their hard-earned money in the bank and benefit from current high interest rates."

The award-winning Jazz supermini is priced from just £9,167 on the road. Its clever packaging, space and value for money have been a winning formula since the car was introduced in 2002.

n On a Jazz 1.4-litre SE manual - the most popular choice - the on-the-road price is £11,260. The deposit would be £5,630 with 11 monthly payments of just £5. The final payment would be £5,680 (including a £50 option to purchase fee). The total paid by the customer would be £11,365. APR is 1.9 per cent.

Of the customers who bought a Jazz in the last 12 months, 62 per cent have owned one previously.

The Honda Jazz has led the JD Power Survey supermini sector for four consecutive years, and continues to consistently win awards five years into its model life. It topped the Which? Reliability tables in 2007, and has an unbeaten five "top five" category finishes in the Auto Express Driver Power Survey. In 2006, Jazz was awarded Best Supermini at Fleet News Awards, demonstrating its versatility across retail and corporate sectors.

Alan Day Honda's 50:50 deal on the Jazz runs until June 28.
