SCORES of bikers have descended on a Hampshire town in support of a veteran who doctors say has just weeks to live.

Motorcycles from across the country could be seen in Eastleigh today as Rolling Thunder CONEX hosted its ride for Dave Digger Gardner.

The 56-year-old amputee and Royal Artillery veteran was told by doctors earlier this year that he had just three months to live.

But five months on, he is continuing to help other veterans through his company, Tail End Charlie, which sees veterans get support for various issues after leaving the forces.

Starting from the Master Builders Pub in West End this morning, the convoy of motorbikes first headed to Hedge End, where Dave lives with his wife.

They then went on to Eastleigh War Memorial for a wreath laying service in memory of Queen Elizabeth II, attended by Gurkhas, and the former Mayor of Eastleigh.

Dave was also presented with a Local Heroes award for "outstanding service to veterans".

After several speeches at the memorial, the convoy was on the move again, returning to the Master Builders for a BBQ.
