THESE are the 12 beautiful hopefuls from across the south who are looking to wow the judges and take the crown of Miss Southampton 2008.

Taking to the catwalk in an evening gown, remembering to smile at every opportunity and of course the customary swimsuit round, this year's glamour night is looking to give everyone something to talk about and to succeed last year's Miss Southampton Chelsea Collins.

And this year organisers say the dozen contestants hoping to represent Southampton in the official Miss England final will have to do more than just look good in a bikini.

As well as impressing judges with their looks and personality, each wannabe glamour girl will also have to perform their own talent such as singing or dancing and impress judges with an eco-fashion round that boasts the most stunning while environmentally friendly outfits.

In another new addition to the ceremony this year, members of the public are also being invited to act as a judge by deciding by a text vote who they think should be given the role of the most attractive ambassador for the city.

Lee Collier from organisers Modelhub said: "This year is certainly looking to be bigger then ever and we have set up a number of changes to get as many people involved as possible.

"As well as judges on the night who will include some well known Saints players, we are also opening the competition up to the public so they can text who they think should win. Whichever girl gets the most text votes before the end of the night will get one more judges vote," he said.

Tickets for the event being held at St Mary's Stadium on Wednesday night are now on sale and as well as deciding who will representing Southampton in the Miss England final the organisers are also looking to appoint a second lady as their own Miss Modelhub to compete for the national beauty prize.

"We have twelve girls from in and around Southampton looking to represent the city, and because we started successfully in Southampton we wanted to use this event to also launch our own Miss England entry.

"Which means there will be nearly 30 gorgeous women competing for the ultimate modelling prize on the night," said Lee.

The winner of both titles go to the Miss England final in London next month and if they win the national crown head to the finals of the official Miss World contest in Ukraine in July.

Tickets for the night cost £30 and include a food buffet. For more information call 0870 7494172.
