TOTTON & ELING launched a blistering 62-run barrage in four overs immediately before tea to end any hopes Bournemouth had of celebrating a third successive Southern Electric ECB Premier 1 victory.

By the end of the 46th over at Southern Gardens, Totton were struggling to post a competitive total at 142-4.

But a whirlwind assault by Rob Franklin and Dan Goldstraw sent the Totton total climbing above the 200- run mark and put the game beyond Bournemouth's reach.

Ed Denham and Simon Ridley were the bowlers to come under fire.

Franklin launched into Denham, hitting the Dorset youngster for consecutive sixes and a succession of fours, as he hit 40 runs off 20 deliveries.

Nick Park ended Denham's misery with a chest-high catch on the deep cover boundary.

But that only brought Goldstraw to the crease and further carnage ensued.

The lanky Ridley was on the receiving end this time, as Goldstraw hit one huge straight six clean out of the ground and another on to the adjoining railway track.

Goldstraw scored 16 runs off four balls as Totton, who had earlier struggled to make much headway, finished with a defendable 204-5.

Dave Banks, with a well struck 40, Ricky Rawlins (28) and Archie Norris (28) all had to graft for their runs.

After tea, Goldstraw removed Joe Cranch for a second ball duck - he holed out to Ricky Rawlins at mid-off - and soon after trapped Martin Miller leg before.

Without the injured Darren Cowley (back) and former Essex captain Paul Pritchard, Bournemouth lacked the batting depth to make a contest of it.

Dorset's Nick Park (22) got embroiled in a personal duel with James Manning - it culminated in both players being verbally warned by the umpires - as Bournemouth made it to 55 without further loss.

But Manning (4-29) removed Park and Grant Mather (24) to send the innings into freefall at 106 all out and end Bournemouth's twomatch winning start.
