DRIVERS are being urged to take extra care on the M27 motorway this morning after extra heavy traffic caused miles of tailbacks.
Motorists have been stuck in extra long queues through the roadworks from junction three for Nursling and junction five for Eastliegh on the eastbound stretch of the motorway and also in the opposite direction heading eastbound towards the works.
The queuing traffic also resulted in long tailbacks on the M271 motorway heading northbound to the M27 away from Southampton.
A spokesperson for Hampshire police said they had no reported incidents and despite being inundated with enquiries the delays were just down to heavy traffic.
The Highways Agency also blame a high number of vehicles on the motorway and ask drivers to be careful and patient while travelling through the roadworks.
