POLICE have cordoned off part of a Southampton gravel yard near St Mary's Stadium after Second World War bullets were dredged up from the River Itchen.
Workers found ten 20mm bullets as they were dredging materials at the Solent Aggregate yard in Marine Parade.
The discovery was made at around 1.30pm and officers have sealed off the area and called the police bomb team to investigate the find.
A police spokesman said that no one had been injured and that old explosives are occasionally brought up from the seabed and all precaution must be taken as they don't know how dangerous they are.
