A PENSIONER is in hospital with serious head injuries after a head-on crash on a Hampshire road this afternoon.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the smash on Wallington Way in Fareham, at around 1.40pm.
A Toyota Yaris collided with a Mercedes saloon travelling from the Delme roundabout towards the Sainsbury's Broadcut store.
The Toyota driver, an 83-year-old woman from Portchester, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.
Her condition was this evening described as stable.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 41-year-old man from Middlesex, was also taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.
