POLICE have seized a very large amount of cannabis plants following a raid at a Southampton warehouse. 

Officers have raided a suspected cannabis factory in Millbank Street today.

According to a spokesperson for the county force, a 'very large and hard to quantify' amount of plants have been found. 

Officers swooped to the scene at around 11.45am this morning and police vehicles remain in the area near the Northam Estate.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "Upon attendance, officers found a very large quantity of cannabis plants inside the building which have been seized.

"A scene is in place while officers determine the exact scale of the production and the number of plants, which will then be destroyed."

Three people have been arrested in connection with the operation. 

They include: 

  • - Two men aged 29 and 31, both of no fixed address, were arrested on suspicion of producing a Class B drug
  • - A 35-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of producing a Class B drug and abstracting electricity

They remain in custody while enquiries continue.
