IT'S Southampton's most expensive cocktail.

The One, a classic martini made with a rare vodka and decades-old vermouth, is served with caviar and worth £1,111.11.

The unique drink was created by Richard Sargent from Rita's Bar and Kitchen on Oxford Street to support a charity event put on by Old Bond Store, the city's members club for business leaders.

Member Donovan Long, a merchant services expert, purchased the in-demand auction item following a bidding war during an event in aid of baby heart charity Tiny Tickers at Ocean Village Italian restaurant Figurati.

He will soon get the opportunity to try The One during a special tasting experience at Rita's on Thursday December 15.

The event raised an impressive £11,500 for Tiny Tickers, the chosen charity of Joe Crook, Old Bond Store member, Testlands co-founder and father of 'the heart brothers'.

Sara Merriman, membership manager at the Old Bond Store, told the Daily Echo: "We wanted to raise money for something we felt passionately about and when one of our members talked about his two sons with congenital heart defects and Tiny Tickers, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Daily Echo:

"The cocktail is so exclusive and a real one-off. We're looking forward to watching it being enjoyed!"

The One is described as a classic martini with a touch of Rita's flair. Its special ingredients are dry vermouth from the 1930s and limited edition vodka from Beluga Epicure.

There are only 1,000 crystal bottles of the smooth Russian vodka in the world and Rita's has the only bottle in the South.

Tiny Tickers improves the early detection and care of babies with serious heart conditions.

The money raised from the sale of The One will provide a life-saving pulse oximetry machine for a maternity ward with money left over.

The charity has now placed 408 of the machines across the UK and is fundraising to ensure all hospitals on their waiting list can give babies the test that could help save their life.
