THE FAMILY of 'a much-loved and popular' pub landlady who died after being hit by a BMW have paid tribute to her.

Grandmother of three, Teresa Grimes 'could captivate everyone in the room' and 'make people laugh within minutes'.

The 50-year-old who ran West End Brewery died on West End High Street outside Asda at around 11pm on Saturday.

Mourners have been gathering at the scene of the crash to leave flowers and pay their respects.

Her son Oliver Grimes and step-daughter Jessica Lampard have issued a joint statement.

It says: "Our mum, it's hard to come to terms with the fact we won't see her again.

"She was the world.

"She was our guide, our confidant, our best friend.

"Mum was the life of any party, especially if it was Karaoke.

"She could captivate everyone in the room.

"She could make you laugh within minutes, she was so witty and clever.

"Knowing we won't hear her laugh, or see her sing again hurts us deeply.

"We will continue to remember her and tell our children and her future grandchildren about her. We have no words, only each other. We love you always, Oliver and Jessica."

A West End resident added: "We heard the impact and then I saw the huge response.

"We know she is very well-loved and popular. It's so sad that the poor family has gone through this loss.

"We just feel really deeply saddened for the family."

He has since been released under investigation.
