A YELLOW weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for parts of Hampshire, including the New Forest.

As the cold snap continues to bring freezing temperatures, the Met Office is warning travel disruption could be on the cards.

In Hampshire, the warning covers the Isle of Wight and the New Forest area.

It's in place between 6pm tonight (December 13) and 10am tomorrow.

The national forecaster says a yellow alert for snow and ice means some roads and railways are likely to be affected, leading to longer journey times by car, bus and train.

Snow and sleet falling on frozen surfaces may lead to icy conditions, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries while the combination of wind and snow may cause some drifting and very poor visibilities, especially over hills and moors.

The next coldest temperature on Tuesday night was also recorded in Aberdeenshire, at minus 14.9C in Balmoral.

In Southampton and the New Forest, overnight temperatures will remain between 1C and minus 1C.

Temperatures during the day tomorrow will see highs of 3C.
