A DAREDEVIL Youtuber from Southampton took his life in his hands when he paddleboarded over a large Welsh canal.

Ally Law, 25, who has over 320,000 subscribers on YouTube, shared footage of him crossing the 126-foot Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Llangollen.

The nail-biting moment was uploaded to Law’s Youtube channel ‘AllyLawsLife’ on Monday and has already amassed over 38,000 views.

The video shows Law swaying precariously close to the edge throughout the stunt.

He can be seen almost coming off his board on several occasions, in what was his first time trying the sport.

Law said: “It’s two degrees. I either go in and get hypothermia, or I go overboard and fall about a hundred feet.”

He added: “This is actually insane.”

As he approaches the side of the aqueduct, viewers can hear Law, who filmed the crossing on a GoPro, repeat “oh no” as he gets closer and closer.

Although the activity is not illegal, thrill seekers are heavily discouraged from making the journey on bike or paddle board.

In 2018 a safety campaign was launched by the Canal & River Trust charity in Wales to stop dozens of people paddling on stand-up boards along the aqueduct trough, which has no railing on one side.

Speaking on the campaign after its launch, Ani Sutton from the charity, said: “Anyone who stands up on a paddle board across the aqueduct, with no safety railings, is taking crazy risks.

“We ask everyone to get off their board and walk along the towpath, towing their paddle board in the water behind them.

“The canal is a great place for enjoying both cycling and stand-up paddle boarding - we just want people to be safe and behave responsibly.”
