TV wildlife expert Chris Packham visited Stroud School in Romsey to officially open the school’s new wildlife hide.

He helped Year 8 children launch the hide, constructed within its 22 acres of grounds as part of the school’s outdoor learning curriculum, presented an engaging assembly, answered questions, and showed off some of his collection of skulls and feathers.

Daily Echo:

Chris Packham said: "It is imperative to engage young people with the natural world in a direct way. They must have the opportunity to meet wildlife first hand, to touch it, feel it, smell it. Only then will they develop a deep-rooted and lasting affinity for it."

"And of course, now more than ever, we must ensure that they are fully briefed on all the environmental issues their generations will inherit. Theirs will be a different, and in many ways a more difficult world.

"Stroud School is taking good advantage of its natural resources and the pupils clearly love that!"
