Is this a playground or a lake?

You may be surprised to learn that it is not the latter. 

Fordingbridge recreation ground, which lies beside the River Avon, has been severely flooded following adverse weather.

Photographer Claire Sheppard from Fordingbridge witnessed the flooding and said: "I have never seen the floodwater so high.

"I believe properties on the banks of the Avon are flooded.

"Caxtons said their basement is flooded and using pumps (which you can see when you drive over the bridge)."

As seen in the pictures The George pub has also been affected.

Its outside patio area was swamped with floodwater on Tuesday morning, as the River Avon came level with the pub.

This comes after the owner expressed her concerns about the pub flooding.

Owner Caroline Roylance said: "If it does come up through the floor of the restaurant, there’s nothing we can do about that. 

"That’s groundwater and you can’t stop it."
