One of the most loved pastries in France is the croissant, but where can you find the best croissants in Southampton?

As a French national living in the city, I tried all the places where I could find that buttery pastry loved by millions of people around the world.

Croissants in Southampton

Muse in London Road and Portswood Road have one of the best croissants in town, but you need to go early to find them. Their croissants are very fresh and buttery as they should be.

Caffè Nero in Above Bar Street is always a go to for a pastry. They sell very fresh and tasty croissants, but you can also find other delicious French pastries such as pain au chocolat.

Costa Coffee too have good butter croissants available in their shops.

Apart from coffee shops, Lidl is a good place to go but make sure croissants look fresh when you buy them.

A few tips

If you want to keep your croissant for the next day or eat it later, turn the oven on and pop your croissant in for few minutes.

It will stay crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

If you don’t have an oven put it on top of your toaster for a few seconds and turn it to make sure it doesn’t burn.

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to coffee shops, try frozen croissants from supermarkets such as ASDA and Tesco.

Those with a sweet tooth can put some jam or Nutella in. But, please, don’t tell any French person I said that!
