WICKED will fly back to Southampton for a run of shows next year – and tickets for the much-loved musical go on sale today. 

Wicked returns to Mayflower Theatre for a lengthy run from May 23 to June 16 2024 and theatre bosses are expecting a run on tickets this morning as fans snap up the best seats to see the theatrical feast. 

It will be the blockbuster production’s only South East date outside London where it continues to impress after 16 years in the West End where it is the 12th longest production in history.

One of the most popular musicals of all time, Wicked is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

This family-friendly show imagines a beguiling backstory and future possibilities to the lives of L. Frank Baum’s beloved characters from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and reveals the decisions and events that shape the destinies of two unlikely university friends on their journey to becoming Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

The spectacular, multi-record-breaking and critically acclaimed touring production is embarking on a major ten-city 2023 to 2025 UK and Ireland tour.

One of the best-selling productions in Mayflower Theatre’s history, Wicked sold an incredible 120,000 tickets across its two celebrated previous visits in 2014 and 2018.

Wicked has a huge touring cast, orchestra, company and crew of 82 people, and is set to employ a further 20 people locally.

The show has already been seen by more than 60 million people around the world and has been performed in over 130 cities in 16 countries.

It's the fifth longest-running show in Broadway history with 2023 marking its 20th anniversary year.

Wicked has won over 100 major awards including three Tony Awards, six Drama Desk Awards, two Olivier Awards, ten WhatsOnStage Awards (including three for Best West End Show), six Australian Helpmann Awards, and a Grammy.

The worldwide sensation will also return to Sydney and Tokyo in 2023.
