A BOY has been arrested after two people were seriously injured when a car veered into a crowd of people watching a 50-strong car meet.

A teenage girl and a woman in her 20s were both seriously injured when a Mazda MX5 ploughed into a group as people watched it drive around a roundabout.

Police said two other people - whose details they did not release - suffered minor injuries.

Officers attended at 9.30pm last night having been told of the car meet and then were told of the crash.

The spokesman added: "It is important to remember vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner, especially where there is a large gathering of people and vehicles, is a risk to public safety.

"We know this is a concern to our communities and we will take action against anyone found to be breaching the law."

Police initially said one person had been seriously injured.

Separate car meets were held in Hedge End and in Eastleigh at B&Q.
