Renting is known to be an expensive endeavour, and the monthly costs are not exactly cheap in Southampton.

For those who are thinking of renting a property, it might be best to look for where on average the rent is cheaper compared to other parts of the city.

Research from the flatshare site Spare Room could potentially help with this, as it has broken down the average weekly and monthly rent in Southampton's postcodes.

On the monthly side of things, there are four which are under £600 a month and two which are under £130 a week.

This is with the caveat that the average room rents include bills and that postcodes with a sample size of under 25 have been excluded.
