DRIVERS are being warned about overnight closures affecting access to the A32 from the M27 as part of an £81m project.

The closures are in force from 9pm-6am and run from Monday, February 27 until March 3.

The A32 will be closed north of the M27 at Junction 10, including access to and from the M27 eastbound on slip and westbound off slip.

The closures will allow contractors to carry out investigations for the junction's upgrade work.

A statement from Hampshire County Council added: "There will be no general access to the A32 during the closure periods, including no access to Pook Lane from the A32.

"Alternative access to Pook Lane will be available from the east via Nine Elms Lane or Spurlings Lane during the closure periods.

"Normal operation will return each morning."

"During the night closures a signed diversion will be in place."

The work is being carried out by the county council and its contractor Volker Fitzpatrick.

They are part of improvement works being carried out at Junction 10.

A statement added: "As part of the completion of the detailed design for the M27 Junction 10 Improvement Hampshire County Council and their contractors Volker Fitzpatrick will be undertaking a number of site investigations during February and March 2023.

"The surveys will comprise topographical, drainage and geotechnical investigations. In order to undertake the surveys over-night road closures will be required on the A32 just north of the M27 and on the M27 between Junction 9 and 11."

Further closures are anticipated March 6-10 at different locations.

The scheme is constructing a new underpass under the M27, west of the existing junction.

There will also be two new west-facing roads and a replacement westbound offslip.
