Work to tear down iconic gasworks near St Mary’s Stadium is well underway.
Sparks have been flying in Britannia Road as huge sheets of metal are hacked apart.
The city council green-lit plans to do away with the SGN containers back in November 2021.
The site has been transformed since demolition began almost three months ago.
Just parts of one of the structures remain with diggers now surrounding the larger frame next to it.
The land in the Northam area of the city has been earmarked for a huge housing development.
Plans to build a 21-storey tower block have been lodged by developer, Hawkstone Properties Ltd.
The scheme would contain more than 400 flats, a gym, and roof-top gardens.
The proposal was put forward in June last year, however, a decision is still due to be made.
