A city restaurant is taking its place among the greats having earned itself a highly-coveted award.

Ennios Italian Restaurant is celebrating getting its first AA Rosette.

It is now the second Italian eatery in Southampton to have been given the status – no easy accomplishment.

General Manager Krystoff Machnowski, along with head chef Sara Plutino and her team are said to be delighted.

Ennios, on Town Quay, promises an authentic Italian experience with dishes that “attract food tourists to Southampton from all over Hampshire and even further afield”.

Owner Steve Hughes has said “We’re thrilled that Ennios has finally been recognised for its exquisite Italian cuisine and awarded its first Rosette; it is a testament to the team's hard work and passion for all we do.

He added: “We love being based on the south coast in Southampton; the marina, New Forest and local shores not only provide the perfect setting for our restaurant but also provide the very best in local, seasonal ingredients.

“We have worked hard to build a strong reputation and are delighted to have so many loyal, returning guests."

Ennios will be holding three days of celebrations from Friday, April 7.

Diners will be offered a complimentary glass of Prosecco and marinated Olives.

There will also be live music to enjoy on Friday and Saturday evening whilst soaking up the authentic atmosphere and culinary delights that the “fabulous” Italian restaurant has to offer.

Ennio’s takes up the ground and first floors of an old Victorian warehouse, designed by the Scottish-born architect John Geddes.

The 80-seat restaurant boasts an extensive menu including fine pastas and fresh meat and fish, with a selection of different varieties offered daily.

The AA awards happen in January and September, with the Southampton restaurant adding its recent achievement to a long list of national recognitions, including a 5* AA award for its Boutique Rooms.

Only 10 per cent of restaurants across the UK achieve the standard of one Rosette so it is a fantastic achievement.
