A new mobile police station has been set up in Thornhill following a murder that has shocked residents. 

The temporary station is based outside the shops in Warburton Road.  

Officers are in the area providing reassurance and talking to residents about what is being done to crackdown on serious crime

It comes after a man in his 60s died after being stabbed in the chest

Residents have been left shocked and saddened by the man's death on Saturday. 

The mobile station will stay in the area for the rest of the week so residents can voice their concerns about what happened.  

Furthermore, PCSOs and officers will be on patrol over the coming days.

Teams from Southampton City Council and the local housing authority will also be engaging with the community.

Superintendent Phil Lamb, district commander for Southampton, said: “The investigation into this incident continues and we are dedicating a large amount of resources to progress it.
