A CHINESE takeaway has been given a two out of five hygiene rating.

New Golden Wok on Bournemouth Road in Chandler's Ford was given the rating by inspectors following a visit on January 19.

It was scored just two, as shown on the Food Standards Agency's website.

Inspectors found that "necessary improvement" was needed for the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building.

This includes having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities, and pest control to enable good food hygiene.

Management of food safety means that systems or checks are in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, there is evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

It means that of Eastleigh's 70 takeaways with ratings, 45 have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

The Daily Echo has contacted New Golden Wok for a comment and is waiting for a response.
