A CHINESE takeaway restaurant known for its crispy beef and fried rice is preparing to close its doors for good after facing increasing hardship.
Michael Harrington and Feige Pan have announced their retirement as they sell Far East on Bedford Place.
The couple first took over the shop in 2016, and ever since then, it has become a neighbourhood staple.
However, they have been struggling to keep up with the rising expenses including rent, utilities and food.
Despite their efforts, the eatery's have continued to fall, and the couple was forced to make a difficult decision to close.

They have decided to close the restaurant and retire, rather than continue to struggle financially.
Michael, 70, told the Echo: "Our gas, electricity, food, and other bills, all of which have gone up.
"Everything you buy now is incredibly expensive. It's very stressful.
"We don't see any profit coming in, and there's no room to manoeuvre, so it's time to stop now.
"It's not a good time to be in business."

Far East is set to close permanently on Sunday, March 12.
Michael and Feige say they haven't had a holiday since 2019 and barely took any days off.
Feige, 54, who is looking forward to spending time with her grandchildren, added: "We took three days off when my grandson was born, and that was it."
Michael added: "After closing the shop, we are planning to go to China to go see our grandson.
"My wife loves to spend time with him."
Before running the takeaway, Michael spent time in the navy and had a 37-year-long career as a postman.
He said: "You might moan about the weather and stuff, but it was a good job.
"I had no qualifications and I joined the navy as a chef, but after six weeks of call, who wants to be a chef when you get out there in the hot weather?"
