A YELLOW weather warning for wind has been issued across Southampton.
The alert, issued by the Met Office, will be in place today from 10am to 6pm.
According to forecasters, strong and gusty winds will batter the city throughout the day with gales of 60 to 65mph over some exposed coasts and hills.
Several sailings to and from the Isle of Wight have already been cancelled due to gusts of up to 46mph sweeping into Southampton and the Solent.
Motorists are also warned of delays on the roads with high-sided vehicle drivers urged to take extra care on exposed routes and bridges.
Disruption to train services and bus journeys is also likely, with some journeys taking longer.
The warning means some households might experience a short-term loss of power and other services.
