A BURGLAR locked a man in his 90s out of his own home as he stole jewellery in Hedge End.
Michael Patrick Cawley, 26, put the door chain on from the inside as he stole the items from a home on St Catherines View, Hedge End.
The owner, a man in his 90s returned home to find he couldn't get inside.
Police were called to gain access to the property and found that a quantity of jewellery had been stolen.

Cawley's DNA was later discovered on the outside of a window at the back of the home.
Cell site analysis of his mobile phone also placed him in the area on the day of the burglary.
Cawley, of Manor Park, Kidlington pleaded guilty to the burglary which took place between 9pm on January 26, 2022 and 7.45am January 27, 2022.
On Thursday he was sentenced to fifteen months in prison at Southampton Crown Court.
