A PARCEL of land with planning permission for a detached house near Romsey has gone under the auctioneer’s hammer for £167,000 in a bidding war.

The 0.16-acre freehold plot, adjacent to 1 Brownhill Road, North Baddesley, near All Saints Church, was among 141 lots listed in England by Clive Emson Auctioneers, regional land and property auctioneers.

Mike Marchant, a senior auction appraiser with Clive Emson Auctioneers, said: “We anticipated keen interest because the site has planning permission for the construction of a four-bedroom detached house, with gardens to the front, side and rear and off-road parking.

“Such was the interest, 44 bids were made, with the final one coming in at £167,000, which was £67,000 more than the guide price.

A 0.09-acre site adjacent to 1 Bridge Cottages, Foxes Lane, West Wellow, with planning permission for a three-bedroom detached house and off-road parking, fetched £169,000 on the 27th bid, which was £19,000 above guide price.

Clive Emson Auctioneers’ next auction, the third of eight this year, ends on Thursday, May 4, with bidding opening 48 hours beforehand.

Lot entries close on April 11, with the catalogue available from April 15.
