A DRIVER caught speeding at 100mph on the M27 told a court he was driving so quickly because he had soiled himself.

Kabir Breathen told magistrates that he had a medical condition as he appeared to answer for two speeding matters.

The 46-year-old of Winchester Road, Southampton, admitted speeding at 100mph on the westbound M27 at Hedge End.

He also pleaded guilty to speeding on a separate day at 87mph between junction 7 at Hedge End and junction 8 for Windhover Interchange.

But in asking magistrates to let him keep his licence, Breathen said: "I have got no points on my licence. Nothing.

"I was soiling myself and shouldn't have driven but I did.

"If I lose my licence I lose my job."

He then passed up evidence of a medical condition - and avoided a driving ban.

Sentencing, the chair of the magistrates' bench Judith Maddox said: "The speeds you were doing on a motorway were dangerous.

"We have to consider it very seriously. It is way beyond what is reasonable."

She said they would not disqualify him from driving but warned him to be "very careful" in future.

Breathen was given six points on his licence for speeding at 100mph on September 24 last year. He was given a further four points for the second speeding offence.

He must also pay a £266 fine and a £106 surcharge.
