Five boys have been arrested after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed in a street.

A 15-year-old boy, three 16-year-old boys, and a 17-year-old boy – all from Southampton - have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place and violent disorder.

This comes after officers were called to Station Road on April 14 following reports a teenager had been seriously assaulted.

The 17-year-old was found with stab wounds to his torso and an injury to his head following the attack in Netley.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and was later discharged.

The five boys have since been released on police conditional bail pending further police enquiries.

The news of the assault sent shockwaves through the community, with residents describing it as ‘awful.'

Many were ‘shocked’ to hear the news, especially as it happened on their doorsteps.

Officers will be continuing visibility patrols in and around the Netley area and Hamble School.
