Here is what the candidates are saying:

Habib Ahmadi – Labour

Peter Andrew Baillie – Conservatives

“Honoured to represent Harefield as a councillor. Passionate about giving everyone the best chance in life, whether education, health, housing or social care. Keen to try and help residents solve their problems, especially when they are not being listened to.

Will stand up for residents over issues such as council tax rises, lack of parking, rent rises and wasteful spending. Our residents should be encouraged to get on with their lives rather than the council trying to interfere. I am here to serve the residents of Harefield.”

Chris Bluemel – Greens

“Chris believes in honesty and integrity in politics, and for decisions to be made in the wider public interest and not for those with the most money or the loudest voices. Chris will seek to ensure that sustainability is at the heart of decisions on transport and planning across the city.”

Edward Bolton – Liberal Democrats

Declan Clune – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition

“Our communities have been devastated by 13 years of austerity, forced upon us by Tory and Labour-led councils. The closure of youth facilities and care homes have decimated services and the levels of care for our most vulnerable are in disarray.

We have crises in the NHS, a lack of genuinely affordable housing, cost of living, the environment, it goes on. These cuts to our services will continue under previous leaderships, they have no alternative.

Enough is enough!

My family has been directly affected by these cuts, I reject all cuts and for the re-establishment of funding to our services and communities.”

Martyn Cooper – Liberal Democrats

Daniel Raymond Fitzhenry – Conservatives

“Dan is the former Conservative Leader of the council and the current leader

of the Conservative opposition team. He was born in Maybush and now lives in the city centre. Dan has a passion for growing Southampton to its full potential and helping people in all aspects of his life. Outside of politics he has a background in starting and growing businesses and he enjoys travelling, reading, yoga and good coffee. Dan was first elected in 2008 in the Harefield Ward and seeking re-election this year to continue to serve the residents of Harefield.”

Jackie Landman – Labour

Val Laurent – Conservatives

“I am proud to have represented the residents of Harefield since 2016, using

my life experiences to try to make a difference. I have sat on various panels including children and families scrutiny panel and learning and disability partnership board among others. I am chair of the Southampton Sunday Lunch Project, feeding people in need.

Working for the welfare of people is important to me and a privilege. Coming to the end of my term as Sheriff, it has been a very special honour being able to work for the city in this role.”
