A TEENAGER was stabbed and beaten by a gang in a “blatant act of revenge”.

The 19-year-old was “savagely” attacked outside City College on Coleman Street.

He suffered 19 separate injuries after being stabbed in the chest, back, face, head, buttocks and thigh.

Three men and a 17-year-old boy were jailed at Southampton Crown Court on Monday in connection with the stabbing.

Just 48 minutes before the attack, the 17-year-old had been “frog marched” through the city by a group of men, the court heard.

The 19-year-old victim was then seen running from a group before being cornered against a car and set upon as he laid on the ground.

Prosecuting, Barry McElduff described the violence as a “tit for tat gang attack” and an “arranged meet up to exact revenge” on those who had attacked the 17-year-old.

He added that witnesses heard one of the group shout “kill him”.

College staff tended to the victim alongside police and paramedics after he collapsed in the street.

He was rushed to Southampton General Hospital where he required immediate surgery and two bags of blood via a blood transfusion.

Despite this, he discharged himself from hospital just 48 hours later.

Southampton Crown Court was told that the assault involved wooden sticks, a hockey stick, kitchen-style knives and a machete.

A knife was discovered at the scene while a hockey stick, also wielded during the attack, was discarded in a nearby garden.

Roman Omari, 18, of Queensway Southampton; Bobby Roy, 18, of Matheson Road, Southampton; and the 17-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, all pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, violent disorder and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Rajveller Landa, 20, of Surrey Road, Southampton admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Defending Landa, Robin Leach said his client is still a “very young man” who “accepts he was hanging around with the wrong people”.

Keeyley Harvey, defending Omari, said he was “still quite immature” and is “remorseful and accepting of his responsibility”.

Ed Warren said Roy was a “bright man” and that “much of this is simply the egging on of others around him”.

Meanwhile, Duncan Jones, defending the 17-year-old, said he is a “vulnerable young person who appears to have been the victim of child criminal exploitation”.

Omari was jailed for five years and eight months.

Roy was jailed for four years and eight months while Landa was jailed for four years and 10 months.

The 17-year-old was given three years.

Judge, Peter Henry, said the victim was “savagely attacked by a group of males in the streets of Southampton”.

“None of you had any regard for the fact that there was people around.

“This was clearly an arranged event to exact revenge on those that had manhandled (the 17-year-old).”

An order was made for forfeiture and destruction of the weapons.
