Two yellow weather warnings for thunderstorm covering parts of Hampshire have been issued by forecasters this weekend.

The first alert by the Met Office covers most of western England and parts of north Hampshire.

It will be in place from 2pm today until 10.30pm.

The second weather warning will be in place from 12pm to 9pm on Sunday - covering areas further south such as Winchester and Romsey.

Whilst many places will be largely dry, thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail are likely.

What to expect

The warnings mean there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions, delays and some road closures.

Rail services are likely to be delayed or cancelled in the event of flooding and lightning strikes.

Power cuts are also possible.
