SHE'S the sports massage therapist who lives and breathes her clients journeys, helping them through cancer, reducing pain, and making them move better.

Sian Kempe is the friendly face behind ST Sports and Wellbeing, working out of her home studio in Hythe and, for the last year, at a unit at BizSpace in Christchurch.

Starting her career as a spa therapist, Sian worked at luxury New Forest hotel the Chewton Glen, including celebrities and world class athletes among her clients.

Wanting to help her clients with their pain long term, she started training in sports therapy alongside her holistic work.

Sian set up her own business in 2020, before the second lockdown, and has spent the time since helping to get her clients out of pain and moving better.

She uses a comprehensive way of treatment to identify the root cause of pain, using advanced soft tissue techniques to alleviate discomfort, and providing a thorough rehabilitation plan to prevent the problem from reoccurring in future.

Sian told the Daily Echo: "I wanted to make a difference to people's lives and help them get out of pain.

"I live and breathe my client's journeys. Whether it's getting them moving better through injury rehab and sports massage, helping them through their cancer journey with oncology massage, helping positively impact their scars or just giving them a safe haven with holistic for their mental health.

"I want them feeling themselves again and I think it's a privilege they they trust me with their treatments.

"I feel incredibly lucky to do my job and it not feel like work."

Scar therapy, a relatively new treatment technique, has also been launched at ST Sports and Wellbeing.

It sits well alongside the sports massage, injury rehabilitation, oncology massage and holistic massages available.

The environment is warm and welcoming, a clinical space but with the added extras of a spa like soft music and warm towels.

Sian provides a listening ear for her clients, many of whom have become friends. They don't call her a therapist for nothing!
