For more than 60 years, the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra has been making beautiful music that has resonated around the world.  They have consistently produced musical experiences for their audiences to savour.

Established in 1956 and moulded into its current structure in 1971, the orchestra is comprised of some of Hampshire's most talented instrumental performers. They take their passion for music across the county, country, and beyond with several performances annually at home and abroad.

With a vast ensemble of approximately 140 talented musicians, Hampshire County Youth Orchestra is an impressive collection of students from various schools in this region. Every year there are audition processes and those who pass are welcomed in September.

Perhaps one of the most famous musicians to have worked with the orchestra was the late Ron Goodwin, the composer of many well-known film scores, including 633 Squadron, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, Battle of Britain, and Where Eagles Dare.

Three years later the Hampshire musicians travelled to the other side of the world to Australia where they performed concerts in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney.
