A Southampton Indian restaurant’s hygiene rating has plummeted following a recent inspection.

Mumbai Kitchen was handed a one-out-of-five hygiene rating after an inspection on June 26.

The restaurant in High Road, Swaythling, was previously given a four ‘good’ rating in November 208.

According to the Food Standards Agency’s website, the management of food safety required major improvement.

It was found that the cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building were ‘generally satisfactory’.

The hygienic handling of food was also found to be ‘generally satisfactory’.

The Daily Echo has contacted Mumbai Kitchen for a response.

The food hygiene rating reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of the inspection by the local authority.

It is not a guide to food quality.
