A man has been arrested after a cyclist was seen on the M27 today.

Police received multiple calls reporting a man riding a bike near Cadnam.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a cyclist on the eastbound carriageway near Junction 1.

In a tweet, a spokesperson from Hampshire Roads Policing Unit said the cyclist "refused details & wanted to argue the law regarding pedal cycles use of the motorway". 

The team posted dash-cam photo of the man cycling on the hard shoulder.

A 28-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of using excluded traffic on a motorway, and obstructing an officer.

He remains in custody.
