These six dogs are looking for their forever homes - can you help them find one?
The high demand for pets over lockdown has driven up prices for puppies - with one man paying £63,000 for three German Shepherds.
But it's also resulted in scores of unwanted pets taken to animal shelters.
Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR), in Mansbridge, says the centre is the most overcrowded it has been in 35 years and warned cats and dogs are at risk of being put down.
This showcase of lovable mutts are all living at SCAR and are in need of a home.
But be warned – they may seem cute and cuddly but all the dogs below will need a significant amount of time and training.
Molly and Daisy
Breed: Cocker Spaniel
Age: Molly - 7, Daisy - 9
Profile: Molly and Daisy are known around SCAR for being some of the sanctuary’s friendliest and most lovable mutts. The pair are mother and daughter and when separated can become a little anxious.
Poppy
Breed: Pomeranian cross
Age: 6
Profile: Pom-cross, Poppy, hates the hot weather because of her thick fur coat – but she loves cooling off in the bath in her kennel and going on walks – in the shade, of course.
Teddy
Breed: Pomeranian
Age: 9
Profile: Teddy, named for his glorious fur coat, is known for being one of the noisiest and most talkative dogs at SCAR. He was previously owned by an older person who passed away and is slowly getting used to a daily walk.
Saint
Breed: Collie
Age: 14 months
Profile: This trickster – known as Saint – is notorious around the sanctuary for being an escape artist and getting out of his pen when it’s time for it to be cleaned.
Josh
Breed: Weimaraner
Age: 2
Profile: Josh is a very big and strong boy – a little overweight. Josh sometimes forgets he is so big when he comes for cuddles and can even knock people to the ground.
