A planning application has been submitted to build 21 flats in Totton.
Ten flats would come from a first and second-storey extension on top of an existing office block at Rumbridge Street while 11 would be built in a connected block next to it.
Snug Architects, the site developer, has an office at the proposed site that it intends to keep, with the new flats being added to the building.

In its design statement, Snug Architects said: “Critically the proposal is an economically viable development that delivers affordable smaller units in a highly sustainable location, creating a high quality and modern mixed-use place to live and work.
“Furthermore, the proposal retains the existing employment use on the site, ensuring continued economic benefit to the local area.”
Snug Architects says they are committed to delivering small and affordable homes, for first time buyers in Totton and the Southampton area.
If the application is approved, the units will be turned into one bedroom single flats with a bathroom, living room/kitchen space and Juliette balconies.
All 21 flats will be accessed through a single staircase within the new extended residential building.
Snug Architects also said that in order to mitigate the environmental impact they are proposing to extend, redevelop and refurbish the existing residential block, rather than knock it down and build a new site.
The site can be accessed directly off the Totton bypass.
