With The Titanic pub reopening yesterday, we can appreciate the wait has been quite a drag.
But not as much as when feather boas and high heels flashed through the streets of Southampton
These images were all snapped on September 7, 2014, when male pub-goers at the Simnel Street watering hole dressed in drag - all for charity.
The annual drag race at Southampton’s Titanic had nothing to do with dragster vehicles but instead called on men to dress up as women before taking each other on in races around the block.
The winners of the men’s and women’s races then came together for a final showdown.
Around 17 competitors took part and Andy Tavender, 25, of Shirley, was crowned the winner.
There were also prizes for the prettiest and most ugly runners.
Landlord Martin Geer said the men had dressed up and then gone to Debenhams to have their make-up done before walking back across town to the pub in Simnel Street. They got plenty of attention on the way back, including wolf whistles.
The event was the third of its kind and raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK, which was ringfenced so it could only be used by the Research Centre in Southampton.
Sam and James Egan - the pub’s new owners - reopened the doors yesterday before large-scale refurbishments take place in 2024.
