Junction 12 on the M3 has reopened after police dealt with a ‘serious collision’ on the Allbrook Way junction with Winchester Road.

Hampshire Police confirmed officers were dealing with a serious collision on the M3 – closing the entry and exit slips at J12 – both North and Southbound.

Officers closed the junction at approximately 5pm, with motorists caught in traffic on the motorway, with Romanse reporting delays of 50 minutes.

The road reopened around an hour later with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary posting on social media: “J12 has reopened.

“We request you are patient, as traffic is still heavy in the area, and will take some time to return to normality.”

Prior to the road reopening, Hampshire Police Control Room stated: “We’re currently dealing with a serious collision on the M3 and have closed the entry and exit slips at J12 (North & Southbound)

“Please avoid the area if you can. If you’re currently stuck in traffic, please be patient. We’ll get things moving again as soon as we possibly can.”
