A Hampshire Thai restaurant has made it onto the shortlist to be named one of the best curry restaurants in the UK.
The Asian Curry Awards, which is dubbed the 'Curry Oscars', has revealed this year’s shortlist
Suan Thai Restaurant, on Bell Sreet in Romsey, has made it onto the list and will be hoping to make it into the final categories.
The Thai restaurant serves soups, curries, and stir-fries, alongside special dishes such as Bet Yang, King Prawn Tempura, and Pla Jeant.
Last year, it was shortlisted for the Thai Restaurant of The Year category in the Asian Curry Awards 2022.
With more than 200 restaurants listed in 2023, it is down to the British public to vote for their favourites to determine which are nominated for the final awards.
Once the 200 restaurants have been reduced to 100, they will be assessed by a panel of judges from the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), who will determine category winners.
ACF Chairman Yawar Khan said: "We’re seeing some remarkable innovation by pioneering restaurateurs, adapting to challenging trading conditions and more sophisticated customer preferences.
"Afternoon chai, weekend brunch, more use of quality local produce – especially seafood and game, are now being widely served.”
The victors will be revealed at a glittering gala dinner and presentation ceremony, hosted by BBC news anchor Samantha Simmonds, being held at the Grosvenor House in London on Sunday 19th November.
